In order to fulfill the goals we have set for ourselves, The Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse has instituted the programs for education, research, competition, among many others as listed here.
- Education. The Foundation has set a series of events around the country featuring nationally and internationally recognized lecturers, authors, painters, sculptors, and clinicians who will bring together the Pure Spanish Horse within the context of its history and current usage.
- Revision. The Foundation will assume the workings of the inscription and valoration program and provide, through its web sites, information about inscribed and approved breeding animals.
- Events. Our Calendar will include seminars, clinics, exhibitions, and tours. Events are planned across the USA and Canada and may include excursions to Costa Rica, Mexico and Spain.
- Competition. The Foundation will support outstanding individual horses and /or exhibitors who are working in open competition in dressage, jumping, cutting, team penning, or other fields outside the traditional breed events. The focus is to show the equine public that the Pure Spanish Horse is a versatile performance horse. To receive support, the owner of the horse must submit a summary of the horse's career and successes to date, together with a description of where the horse will next be competing and what level of support is requested.
- Future. The Young Star Program is directed at the youth of our country to encourage them through education, essays, and awards, to have a trained Pure Spanish Horse which they can use to compete in their 4-H, ETI, or other local shows, while also participating in recognized breed shows. The establishment of a strong base of youth riders is singularly important to ensure future riders and future owners.
- Research. The Foundation's goal is to join with accredited individuals and or institutions to study areas of interest or impact on the Pure Spanish Horse.
- Library. The Foundation has already collected over 100 videos, focusing on the Pure Spanish Horse, the Spanish culture and history. The videos are available for rental with a tax deductible donation to The Foundation.
- P.R.E. Rescues. The work of the rescue committee will be absorbed into the efforts of The Foundation. The Foundation will assist in the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of the Pure Spanish Horse in need of help. If you know of a Pure Spanish Horse which needs help, or if you would like to help the rescue mission, please contact The Foundation at 505.294.0800, Fax 505.294.0812 or e-mail us at
